Ascension of Prophet (25) 2017

Date:
Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Laylat al-Mi'raj (Prophest Ascension) is observed on the 27th day of the Islamic month of Rajab.

Considered to be one of the most important events in the Islamic calendar.

The day is observed as an official public holiday in some countries.

According to Islamic tradition, the Islamic prophet Muhammad took Shab-e-Me'raj (a Night Journey) around the year 621.

This journey is believed to have dual nature, it was both physical and spiritual.

The two parts of Shab-e-Me'raj are the Isra and Mi'raj.

The Isra is the part from Mecca to Jerusalem, and Mi'raj is Muhammad's ascension to the heavens where he toured the seven heavens, and spoke with the earlier prophets.

The Al-Aqsa Moscue in Jerusalem is believed to be the place from which the prophet ascended to heaven.

It is one of the holiest sites in Islam.
